Ready for more information on Ayurvedic Hair Care by Season? Ayurveda is more than just a treatment method, a lifestyle that’s in tune with nature.

Avocado

Yes, Avocado is good all on its own for moisturizing your hair. But it’s not an ingredient many can use liberally. Here are few ways to use this luscious and rich fruit in your hair masks.

Mash half Avocado and add in ½ Cup of Yogurt and 2 Tbsp. of Olive Oil. Mix well or mash everything together in your blender. Done! Scoop out and apply this as your hair mask. Let it sit for about 25 minutes and rinse off.

For those who are afraid of using Yogurt on your hair, Milk or Fresh Cream are good alternatives. If you’re using fresh cream go with a spoon and for milk add a few spoons so your mask doesn’t become too runny. You can use Raw Milk for best results and make sure it’s Whole Milk.

Not just this, you can pair Avocado with Banana, Pumpkin or other hair care fruits according to your preference or availability and use them as your mask. You can also combine it with herbs like Aloe Vera, Neem, False Daisy, etc. The bottom line is – choose ingredients that are available in your locality and ones that work for you. Local ingredients are best for everyone and try and find what works for you – trial and error isn’t wrong.

General Tips for Any & Every Season

Always Care for your Hair! It needs care, pampering and nourishment just like every other part of your body.

Don’t wash your hair often. Depending on where you are and your scalp type or requirements, choose your bath routine. 1 – 3 times a week if recommended based on one’s needs.

Don’t use chemical-based or harsh shampoos to wash your hair and scalp. Go for herbal hair washes, or at least mild shampoos that are salt, sulphate and alcohol free.

Don’t use heat or chemical treatments for your hair, ever. Minimize them to occasions or when really needed, over regular use.

Wrap your hair when heading out during peak summer or winter. Both these seasons wreak havoc on your hair, so protect it. It’s a good idea to always keep your hair protected to reduce pollution or other environmental factors affecting your hair or scalp health.

Detox your body and mind regularly. Every season calls for a detox so plan your detoxes around the season’s end, so you’re ready fro the next. Ayurveda recommends a dish made of Rice & Mung Dal with spices called Kitchari for detoxing and nourishing the body.

Don’t forget to include seasonal foods in your diet. The seasonal foods are seasonal for a reason and you need to have them more during their season – not just the ones you like.

Make a shake with 2 – 5 Dates, Coconut / Cow’s Milk, Sesame Seeds, a dash of Cinnamon and Vanilla and have it, to nourish and strengthen your body. It’s a healthy snack that gives you energy and strengthens your muscles and bones. What’s not to like about?
