Want soft and shiny locks? A good rinse off conditioner is just what you need to flaunt shiny locks.

One thing I have had many say when trying out DIY is that store-bought products feel much better, look better and last longer. Also, there is a satisfaction when using them, for example a sense of clean and fresh hair and scalp after a wash, when using a shampoo.

While it is not always an illusion, we’re used to store-bought things. When we try to change things around it takes getting used to. That the smell or texture differs is a contributing factor. Just because natural products are mild they aren’t less effective. With time we will get used to using natural ingredients and love the results – once we realize they are better for our health and environment, needless to say our budget.

This conditioner is one recipe where we try to get a conditioner that resembles the store-bought ones. Initially if you want you can go this way – prepare DIY recipes that look and match store-bought products for most part leaving out harsh ingredients and chemicals. In fact a lot of DIYers actually prepare stable and long lasting products with preservatives that are fairly skin and hair friendly. Having that said let’s move to the recipe at hand without getting further diverted.

Ingredients

Sweet Almond Oil – 4 Tbsp.

Honey – ½ Cup

Xanthum Gum – 1 Tsp.

Geranium Essential Oil – 3 Drops

Rosemary Essential Oil – 4 Drops

Instructions

Add all the ingredients listed under ingredients to a mixing bowl and whisk to combine.

Once fully combined transfer to a sterilized conditioner dispenser.

Done!

How to Use the Conditioner?

Apply this to damp hair (if possible, slightly dampen hair. For those who can’t stay with damp hair long, skip dampening your hair).

Shake the conditioner dispenser gently and take a dollop of the conditioner in your palm.

Massage the conditioner to your scalp – use your fingers to gently massage the conditioner in, taking little (small dollops) as you go.

Make sure you cover your scalp and hair – (work from root to tips).

Wrap a warm towel (doesn’t have to be a wet towel. Just warm it up in your oven or use your dryer or your stove).

Wait for at least 25 minutes before shampooing.

Make sure to rinse with cool water and those who can’t use cool water go for lukewarm temperature.

Let your hair air dry after washing for best results.

Why These Ingredients?

This conditioner is especially great for dry or damaged hair that has lost its luster and shine. This suits everyone irrespective of whether hair is dry or not, though if you have normal or oily scalp or hair, you can reduce the oil by half. This conditioner nourishes your hair and scalp and helps promote hair growth. It soothes and nurtures dry hair and makes your hair soft and shiny.
