Want to spruce up limp hair and curb scalp’s sebum production? Those with oily hair and scalp are always looking for ways to do just this. Want to know a quick fix that really works?

The problem with oily scalp is not only the greasy feeling but also that hair becomes limp between showers. This makes it hard to style or when you have to head out for occasions or important presentations, or the like.

Oily scalp tends to attract dirt and grime and lack of freshness as a result. This is one of the reasons why those with oily scalp shower more frequently than others. So, something to fix the greasy feeling by curbing the scalp’s oil production and sprucing up hair so it is not limp, is a dream come true. This easy and natural hair rinse does both and it works like a charm, every time. Let’s take a look at the recipe.

Ingredients

Green Tea Leaves – 1 Tbsp.

Rosemary Leaves – 1 Tsp.

Citrus Peels – ½ Tsp.

Brewed Vinegar – 1 Tsp.

Distilled Water – 200 – 300 Ml

Instructions

Brew a cup of green tea – you can use green tea leaves / green tea bags for this. For this, heat about 150 ml of water and when hot switch off the heat. Add the green tea leaves or bag and let it brew for a few minutes. Set aside to cool.

In another bowl heat about a cup (150 ml) of water. When hot add Rosemary Leaves and Citrus Peels to it. Wait till the water is infused with the herbs. Switch off and cover the vessel. Set aside to cool and infuse further.

Once both the teas cool down add in Brewed Vinegar.

Transfer contents to a sterilized spritzer.

Done!

How to Use the Rinse?

After shampooing spray the prepared rinse on your hair – be generous with it.

Wait for a few minutes.

Rinse thoroughly.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

Use orange peels instead of lemon peels if you’re sensitive.

You can also add some Thyme to counter scalp issues like itching and dandruff.

You can also add other herbs as needed:

Fenugreek Seeds – Conditioning & Shine, Promotes Hair Growth

Neem / Margosa – Curbs Dandruff & Scalp Itching

Sage – Prevents Premature Graying

False Daisy – Promotes Hair Growth

PepperCorns – Acts as a scalp stimulant

Why These Ingredients?

This rinse acts as an astringent for the scalp and curbs sebum production. Rosemary, together with green tea and Vinegar regular scalp’s pH levels. This rinse also makes your locks shiny.

As always, feel free to tweak the recipe to suit your requirements. I have always used fairly diluted / low strength teas for this recipe. You can also pour it directly on your strands if it is easier, instead of using a spritzer. As long as you are able to cover all your strands and scalp, it’s good.
