Want silky soft locks? This easy leave-in gives you lustrous locks naturally.

Want to know how to prepare it? Let’s get started then.

Ingredients

Shea Butter – 1 Oz

Glyceryl Stearate – ½ Tsp.

Rosemary Hydrosol – ½ Oz

Argan OIl – 1 Tsp.

Lavender Essential Oil – 25 Drops

Instructions

Melt the Shea Butter in your double boiler.

When it fully melted add Glyceryl Stearate.

Make a makeshift double boiler and heat the Rosemary Hydrosol till it reaches 175° F. Turn off and remove from heat at this stage.

Remove the other mixture from heat, as well – Shea Butter mixture.

Now, slowly add the Rosemary hydrosol into the Shea Butter mixture – do this slowly, the stream should be thin.

Whisk while adding in the Rosemary Hydrosol using a hand whisk or a hand blender till the mixture reaches room temperature.

Transfer to a sterilized jar and use as needed.

How to Use the Leave-in?

Take a small dollop and apply on your hair strands while your hair is still wet after showering – you can slightly pat dry to keep your hair damp but not dripping wet. Make sure to apply just enough – a little goes a long way for this conditioner.

I love to rub this on my fingers and just run them through my hair strands so I don’t apply too much. You can try that as well.

It can leave your hair limp if you go overboard, so reel in. You can always take more if it isn’t enough.

Why Use this Leave-in?

This leave-in conditioning crème leaves your hair soft, silky and doesn’t make your hair limp. You don’t have to rinse it off. It also makes your curls more defined and keeps your hair frizz-free. The nourishing this gives is an added bonus!

Shelf Life

This lasts for a few months, though I prepare smaller batches for added freshness.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can use any emulsifier in this recipe – you need one to blend the hydrosol and butter. A true emulsifier gives better results.

You can use any butter of your choice – Shea is suitable for all hair types and fairly light. For those with dry or damaged hair, Cocoa Butter can be added along with Shea Butter, or swapped for it.

You can use any essential oil of your choice. Especially oils like Rose Absolute can leave your hair softer. However, any essential oil adds to the aroma and benefits of the recipe.
