Prevent & Treat Premature Greying Naturally ~ Part II

As promised here’s the next part on Premature Greying and How to Deal with it naturally using Ayurvedic methods.

So, we did not want to leave you hanging since we did not get into the meat of the subject. We’re going to delve a little deeper into the subject and cover a few important questions regarding greying.

We’ve already covered the introduction, causes and were discussing about the simple change that are needed with reference to our lifestyle. Let’s take a look at the remedies suggested by Ayurveda for this condition, shall we?

Home Remedies

There are a number of simple home remedies suggested to deal with, prevent or treat premature greying. Most recipes are easy to prepare and quite practical. The ingredients are also readily available in most cases, but with the options available it’s not hard to choose one that will work for you.

Aloe Vera Resin Remedy

We have already covered this as a way to color hair, but the truth is, it’s a remedy that works well to nurture your hair back to it’s original color. All you need are 3 ingredients for this remedy.

A piece of Aloe Resin, a handful of dried Indian Gooseberry and some water. Soak the Aloe Resin in some water and set aside. In another bowl, soak the dried gooseberry and set aside. Leave both overnight and grind them together – the aloe resin will dissolve when you rub it against the vessel. However, you can add both to your blender to get a fine paste.

Apply this paste to your scalp and hair and let it sit for about an hour. Wash off with herbal hair wash powder. Do this twice a week to reverse premature greying. It also colors your hair dark brown for 3 days if not more.

Henna

Henna is used to color your hair as we’ve seen in a lot of recipes we shared here. However, it’s also an excellent hair care ingredient and used regularly for reversing or preventing premature greying.

Grind some Henna Leaves or use dried powder if you don’t get fresh leaves. Make a mask using an egg, Henna, False Daisy leaves, a spoon of fenugreek seeds and grind to a fine paste. You must soak the fenugreek seeds overnight to grind them easily. Once your paste is ready, add the paste to an iron vessel and let it sit overnight. Apply the paste to your hair and scalp in the morning and wash off after 25 minutes with herbal hair wash powder.

This is one of the recipes using Henna, though you can make it your own by choosing ingredients of your choice – Hibiscus (leaves and flowers), Dwarf Copperleaf leaves, Water Hyssop Leaves, Sage Leaves, Curry Leaves, Lemon, etc. are a few additions you can consider.

Yogurt is another ingredient that can make a good addition to this pack, especially if you think henna is leaving your hair dry. Do this once or twice week for best results.

Indian Borage

Plectranthus amboinicus (botanical name) is a plant that has an aroma similar to that of oregano. It’s a herb that has culinary and medicinal uses. As for premature greying, it’s a great herb that works wonders to reverse it. Grind a handful of this herb and add juice from half lemon to it. Apply this mixture to your hair scalp thrice a week to reverse greying.

Now, now, now, these are a few remedies to get you started. But stay tuned for more. Until then, feel free to write back to us for any doubts or queries. Have you given Vitamins Keratin or Argan Oil based Hair & Scalp Care products? Do let us know how you like them!
