Final Rinse – Cold Water

While you might be tempted to take a hot shower, hot water is really not good for your hair. Like suggested earlier, you can opt for warm or lukewarm water instead of hot. Even so, always finish with a final cold-water rinse. This tightens your cuticles and seals your outer layer – this means, more shine and sheen.

Frequency of Hair Wash

We’ve already discussed the frequency of hair washes in our previous posts. But it needs to be repeated. How often you wash your hair depends on your hair type, too. If you have oily or fine hair, you may need to shampoo daily. Normal or dry hair can lather up closer to three times a week.

Choose Shampoo & Conditioner According to Your Hair & Scalp

Choosing a Shampoo & Conditioner that works for your hair and scalp type is important. For example, if your scalp or hair is dry, choose one that will moisturize your hair and scalp. If your hair is limp or thin, choose one meant for voluminizing, so your hair isn’t weighed down. Like that, pick products or ingredients that match your hair and scalp type for best results. Choosing oily hair or scalp shampoo thin hair will leave your hair limp! So pick the right products for happy hair and scalp.

Shower Filter

While it might sound unnecessary, but filtering your water can get rid o of dust and other unwanted sediments that can make your hair dull. Besides, they can deposit on your scalp or your hair and that makes cleaning difficult.

Wet hair Before Shampooing

Do you know if you rinse your hair, otherwise wet it before you apply shampoo you will consume less shampoo? Apparently, if the water is slightly warm, it is even better. The open cuticles will enable penetration of the shampoo for cleaner hair.

Rinse Thoroughly

Never leave your shower without getting rid of any shampoo or soap from your hair, and rinsing off thoroughly. You don’t want to leave residue behind.

Shampoo Your Scalp

While many shampoo their hair, scalp or near the roots is where oil and other dirt or grime lies. That’s where you need to concentrate most and apply shampoo to get your hair and scalp clean and tidy.

Dilute Your Shampoo

You’ve heard it probably, but we’re repeating it here – dilute your shampoo before applying it on your hair. Only diluted shampoo will spread evenly and easily. Also, this means your shampoo usage is less!

Wash Off Conditioner with Cool Water

Wash down your conditioner with cold water to seal the cuticles and retain the moisture that conditioner offers. Make sure you rinse your conditioner well and only condition your hair, not scalp!

Scrub Gently

Don’t use your nails or scrub your scalp rigorously. Instead, apply the shampoo gently and use back and forth motions to wash, spread the shampoo and get rid of dirt and grime. Preferably, don’t use circular motions especially if you’re prone to tangles or breakage.
