DIY Hair Texturizing Spray

Want beach waves but don’t have time for a stroll along the shoreline, or have access to shoreline, or probably, you don’t want to spend a fortune on Beach Sprays? Here’s an effective DIY Hair Texturizer you can try.

Ingredients

Base – 1 Cup (You can use hot water, black tea (dark hair) or chamomile tea (light hair)

Epsom Salt – 5 Tsps.

Aloe Vera Gel – 1 Tsp.

Himalayan Salt ½ Tsp.

Argan Oil – 1 Tsp.

Essential Oil – 5 – 10 drops.

Lemon Juice – 1 Tsp. (Optional)

Himalayan Salt

Instructions

Sterilize the spray bottle you are planning to use. This would approximately make 10 Oz. Make sure you take a bottle that will hold that quantity or reduce the ingredients to accommodate your bottle size.

Add hot water, Epsom salt, Aloe Vera gel, essential oil, Argan Oil and Himalayan Salt into the spray bottle.

Shake well and use as needed.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can use tea as your base, instead of hot water. In that case, just prepare Chamomile tea or black tea. Remember – don’t allow it to boil. Hot water is all we needed.

You can add any essential oil of your choice. I use Lavender because it is good for hair.

You can add your hair conditioner instead of Argan Oil, or just skip hair conditioner or oil if you have oily/fine hair.

You can use Sea Salt if you don’t get Himalayan Salt.

What About Refrigeration?

The above recipe doesn’t use optional ingredients – I have used hot water only. So, you don’t need to refrigerate the spray. But when you add lemon juice, or use tea as base, you must refrigerate.

What About Shelf Life?

It lasts for 2 – 4 months, depending on the climate and other factors.

How to Use it?

Spray it to your wet hair, scrunch and rub your hair with a towel to dry off. This will give you loose waves.

Want to add volume to your hair? Spray it on dry hair and roots. This adds volume and texturizes your hair.

Straight Hair? Wash your hair at night and spray this when your hair is still wet. Then do a French braid or pigtails, bun your hair loosely and sleep on it. Moring, your hair will be dry, now, spray again. Remove the braid or bun. Done!

Why These Ingredients?

Beach spray tends to leave hair dry for some. The Aloe Vera Gel and Argan Oil ensure that doesn’t happen. So, your hair wouldn’t be battered with chemicals or pollution, but you would get beach waves! That isn’t to say a stroll along the beach isn’t fun! This spray also acts as a texturizer and voluminizer, so it is more than just a beach spray and you can use it as you see fit.
