DIY Cleansing Scalp Scrub with Orange

We all know scalp scrub is important for the health of your hair and scalp. Just like we scrub our skin, the scalp, an extension of our skin should be scrubbed at regular intervals.

We use a lot of different hair care products, oils, creams, waxes, gels, shampoos and what not on our hair. We might all not use everything on the list, but we use more than one in most cases. Overtime, these products tend to leave a residue and that keeps piling up on the scalp surface.

The hair follicles get clogged as a result, and the residue can prevent nutrient entry to the roots. Besides, accumulation will also slow, if not stop hair growth and increase hair and scalp problems like dandruff, scalp itching, etc.

A good cleansing scrub will not only cleanse your scalp but also feel you leaving fresh and like your scalp can finally breathe. Want to give it a shot?

Ingredients

Dead Sea Salt – 1/4 Cup

Orange Juice – 1/4 Cup

Argan Oil – a few drops

Jojoba Oil – as needed

Instructions

Nothing special. Add the salt to a mixing bowl, along with orange juice and Argan Oil. Add Jojoba Oil as needed.

Done!

How to Use it?

Apply this scrub on your scalp. Gently massage your scalp and let it sit for 7 minutes.

Scrub gently once more and wash off with a mild shampoo.

You can follow-up with a conditioning rinse, conditioner, or even a nourishing rinse like rice water to prevent drying of scalp or hair.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can use Honey instead of oil, if you have oily or greasy scalp or hair. Honey is a good cleanser and is very soothing on the skin.

Baking Soda is another ingredient you can consider for cleansing and clarifying your scalp.

For those who find scrubbing difficult, use Vinegar rinse. You might have to use it once a week or once in two weeks, to avoid build-up and remove it.

Why These Ingredients?

Rich in Vitamins and nutrients, this scrub cleanses, gets rid of dead cells, exfoliates the scalp and fights free radicals. It curbs hair fall, dandruff and keeps your scalp clean and clear.

They’re all natural ingredients that are good for your hair and scalp.

With regular use you hair will be bouncy, shiny and your hair growth rate will improve.

I have used Orange juice here, though Lemon juice works equally well. Orange juice is better for those with sensitive or easily irritated scalp.
