DIY Vetiver Hair Butter for Strong Hair

We all need some pampering from time to time, but good hair butter for dry or damaged hair is not pampering. It’s a necessity for healing and repairing hair, while damaged hair can’t be restore fully, hair can once again look lustrous and alive.

I have chosen ingredients that would give a nice and shiny texture, without actually weighing down the hair. I chose Vetiver because it is relaxing and romantic, but most importantly a very good ingredient for hair or skin care.

Let’s get started, shall we?

Ingredients

Illipe Butter – ½ Cup

Sal Butter – 1 Cup

Corn Starch – ½ Tbsp.

Rose Water – 2 Tbsp.

Argan Oil – 1 Tbsp.

Beeswax – ½ Tbsp.

Vetiver Essential Oil – 16 Drops

Rosemary Antioxidant Extract – ¼ Tsp.

Instructions

Melt together Illipe Butter, Sal Butter and Beeswax in your double boiler.

When melted refrigerate for a few minutes till is almost opaque – it isn’t hard, but isn’t soft either. It takes a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the temperature of your refrigerator. Or you can keep it in your freezer for a few minutes and it is done.

Now, remove the melted and slightly hardened butters and wax mixture from the walls of the bowl and add it to a mixing bowl.

Now, start whipping this mixture slowly adding in Argan Oil.

Add in the rose water slowly and continue whipping.

By this time, it is softer but not yet fluffy.

Add in the Rosemary Extract and Vetiver Essential Oil and continue whipping – slowly introduce the EO and Rosemary Extract while still whipping and continue whipping.

When it is beginning to become soft and fluffy add Corn Starch and whip till it is fully whipped – the ingredients should be fully combined and slightly fluffy.

Done!

Transfer to a sterilized jar and use as needed.

How to Use the Butter?

Apply on your hair and scalp – little is more with this butter. So go easy on the dollop you take to apply. Don’t forget the tips and roots of your strands and make sure to massage it in after applying.

Why These Ingredients?

Illipe Butter – Illipe tree comes from Borneo forest in the South Pacific. It is really moisturizing and restores hair elasticity. It can be used on both hair and skin and does a world of good for dry or damaged hair and skin. It is a great emollient, nourishes and rejuvenates your hair and skin. With moisture retention and improved hair elasticity, your hair is on the mend.

Sal Butter is from India and has properties similar to that of Cocoa Butter, in that it softens when applied on the skin and gets absorbed in. It is rich in Oleic and Stearic fatty acids, making it a great hair conditioner that also restores your hair and soothes it. As for your skin or even hair, it provides UV protection and is an anti-inflammatory agent.

Do you know Rose Water or Rose Hydrosol is not only a relaxing scent, but also good to improve your hair’s moisture and growth rate? It also curbs dandruff and leaves your hair shiny and smooth.
