Curry Leaves

Want to prevent Premature Graying? Nothing helps better than Curry Leaves! Including Curry Leaves liberally in one’s diet, is said to prevent Premature Graying. However, I have noticed considerable improvement when consuming a few leaves either raw, or as juice everyday. It also goes well with Buttermilk.

You can also infuse Coconut Oil with Curry Leaves to promote better hair growth, prevent or reverse premature graying and to stop hair loss.

Amaranth

Rich in nutrients, Amaranth Greens is an ideal home remedy for many hair problems. Grind a bunch of fresh leaves and apply it on your hair and scalp to prevent Premature Greaying and promote hair growth. It also makes your hair softer 😉

Ridge Gourd

Have Ridge Gourd handy? Let them dry in shade and then soak the dried pieces in Coconut Oil for about 3 days. Then, bring it to a boil and simmer till the pieces turn dark or black. Filter the oil and massage your scalp and roots with this to reverse Premature Graying.

If you reside in countries where you can’t really keep things out for drying, go ahead and use fresh Ridge Gourd instead! In that case, just add shredded or cut pieces of ridge gourd and simmer till moisture is fully eliminated.

Lemon

For ¼ Cup of Coocnut Oil, add juice from ½ or 1 Lemon and apply this mixture to your scalp. Wait for 20 minutes before washing off. Doing this regularly is said to reverse Premature Graying, or prevent it. Besides, this also strengthens hair and leaves it shiny and strong! What’s not to like about it?

Butter

We all know what’s butter. Butter made from cow’s milk can prevent Premature Graying. All you have to do is massage scalp with a dollop of butter twice a week and also consume some everyday. It is doable isn’t it? I usually apply butter 30 – 45 minutes before showering.

Essential Oils

Have a stash of Essential Oils? Great! Check for Sage, Rosemary or Thyme Essentials Oils if you have dark hair. If you have light hair, consider using Lavender or German Chamomile. All you have to do is, take 2 – 3 drops of one of these oils, add a few drops of Coconut Oil or any other carrier oil you use and massage your scalp for a few seconds at night. Done!

Almond oil

Massaging the scalp with Almond Oil is said to prevent Premature Graying by nourishing the scalp and strands from within.

Rosemary & Sage

Sage and Rosemary Herbs are available in most kitchens. Even otherwise, they’re easy to get anywhere. Take about ½ cup of both Sage and Rosemary herbs (dried) and bring the mixture to a boil. Simmer for a 15 – 30 minutes and apply it to your scalp and graying strands and let it dry. Once dry, shampoo as usual. With regular use (twice weekly), your color should return. After that, continue doing it for a month or two. After that, the graying should stop.

Herbal Hair Rinses

Herbal Hair Rinses are one way to reverse graying. Depending on your hair color, a suitable herb should be chosen.

If you have darker hair, go with Sage, Ivy Berries, Rosemary, Black Coffee or Tea, Parsley, Catnip, Potato or even Raspberry Leaves.

For light or blond hair, you can go with Calendula, Privet, Yellow Broom, Saffron, Mullein, Rosehips or Turmeric.

For Red Hair, you can go with Red Hibiscus or Henna.

For the above given herbs or berries, just add about ½ cup of dried flowers, berries or herbs and bring them to a boil. Simmer for 15 – 20 minutes to get a strong concoction. Strain and pour it on your hair and let it sit for a few minutes, or massage your scalp and cover the strands with the concoction. Wait till it is dry and rinse out.

With regular use, like twice weekly, the color should return to your hair. If you are using Potato, don’t peel it. Just boil a potato and apply the concoction to your hair using a cotton ball and rinse out after 20 minutes.
