So, good and simple hair pomade is all you need to keep your hair slick and smelling fresh. The best part – you prepare your own pomade and customize it to your taste!

I prepare batches of hair pomade and gift to my friends and relatives. Not just hair pomade, many goodies. Hair pomade is a simple and easy recipe that anyone can do. You don’t need a lot of stuff or experience, and there are so many variations you can try with it. Let’s start with the recipe now.

Ingredients

Beeswax – 1 Tbsp.
Cinnamon Essential Oil – 2 Drops
Peppermint Essential Oil – 5 Drops
Olive Oil – 1 – 2 Tbsp.
Vitamin E Oil – few drops.
Argan Oil – 1 Tsp.

Instructions

Melt the beeswax in your double boiler.

When it begins to melt, add in the Olive Oil.

When fully melted, remove from heat and set aside.

Let it cool down before you add the Vitamin E Oil, Argan Oil and Essential Oils.

Give a stir to combine the ingredients and transfer to a sterilized jar.

How to Use the Hair Pomade?

Take a small dollop of the hair pomade, rub it with your fingers and apply on your hair. Style as usual.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

The ratio is 1:1 for oil and wax, but it depends on your preference and hold requirement. I add more of oil to keep the pomade lighter and easy to manoeuvre.

You can also use a dash of Candelila Wax for a glossy finish.

You can use any essential oil(s) of your choice including Spearmint, Lemon, Tangerine, Thyme, etc. Choose the scent according to your preference, purpose or whom you’re gifting to.

You can use any carrier oil instead of Olive Oil like Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Avocado Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, etc. Castor Oil is slightly thicker than normal oils, so you might need another oil along with it. You can also add a combination of carrier oils for added benefits.

I have added Vitamin E Oil for the benefits it offers and also as a preservative. However, you can add other DIY nature-friendly preservatives if you prefer that way, or want larger batches done. Since we don’t use water-based ingredients or hydrosols in this recipe, I opted for Vitamin E Oil alone.

Why These Ingredients?

All the ingredients are great for your hair and scalp, besides being natural. They make styling easier and leave your hair manageable. What’s not to like about it?

The ingredients also leave your hair healthy and happy, unlike the chemicals that hair pomades and gels in the store shelves come loaded with.
